Up until now, there hasn’t been an episode that directly confronted the issues with the fandom. And we would know, we’ve spent 6 and a seasons watching it. They’ve certainly flirted with the idea, but this week, the fandom is getting called out and it is terrific. The protests of Rarity, the Fluttershy redundancy, the criticism of Twilight’s “character” - it’s all here. But what makes this episode truly great is how the show uses that fun fan service as a springboard to bigger issues with fandoms, criticism, and how adults view a television show meant for the kids. Who watches the Bronies? We do as we watch ”Fame and Misfortune” this week on Macintosh & Maud!
