S3E3: “Too Many Pinkie Pies”

Despite Discord's efforts at chaos, we've still got the most Pink-a-riffic episode with our awesome guest, James!

We knew something was up this week. A giant hailstorm while recording? Random sound issues during editing? It could only be Discord. He even left us a quick message to include on the podcast. Nevertheless, and despite the issues, we have the greatest Pinkie Pie episode that ever Pinkie'd with OUR FIRST EVER GUEST, James from Unabashedly Obsessed and Blink and You'll Miss It! We talk all things Pinkie Pie, the desperate need for the Apple family's barn insurance and Pinkie Pie possibly being a time lord. It's fun! Fun! FUN! FUN! FUN!

S3E2: “The Crystal Empire, Part 2”

Just goes to show you: don’t plan a giant party unless you’re ready for EVERYPONY to show up...

So there’s this whole thing where Twilight has to figure out how to save the Crystal Empire from certain doom at he hands of King Sombra. Blah blah blah, something something friendship. What’s FAR more concerning is how the Mane Six, who seem to be AMAZING at entertaining other ponies, didn’t have their ducks in a row for this party. I mean, at least know where the real Crystal Heart is before you make a whole festival about it. Get it together, gang!

S3E1: "The Crystal Empire, Part 1"

Twilight’s on a mission. A mission from...Princess Celestia.

There is no assignment more honored and beloved by Twilight than the homework Princess Celestia gives. And when Celestia says it’s going to be a test - well we all know how Twily is about those. But this isn’t any ordinary test, and the Mane Six are about to discover one of the most isolated, spectacular places in all of Equestria - The Crystal Empire. The question is, are they ready to pony up and save it?

Season 2 Wrap-Up

Time for us to send our own letters to Celestia as we talk about what we’ve learned from Season 2!

We’ve gone through A LOT with our pony friends in Season 2 and now it’s time to share our thoughts. Like how the Cutie Mark Crusaders need less episodes. Or how bits and goofs made this season particularly great. And of course, we have to give our choices for the Best Randopony of the season. Don’t miss it!

S2E26: “A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2”

Twilight KNEW something was wrong with Cadence. Now she’s just gotta get the bride past zombie bridesmares...

Twilight called shenanigans and wound up being right; Princess Cadenza di Amore is still full of joy and love but currently trapped. It’s up to Twilight to get her out and interrupt this demon wedding a la  The Graduate . Except there’s changelings. And zombie bridesmares. Normal wedding stuff.

S2E25: "A Canterlot Wedding, Part 1"

Twilight Sparkle might just be a bit too protective of her BBBFF. Then again, his fiancee seems to be kind of the worst. What to do...

It's time for the pony finale, and for Twilight Sparkle, that means a new sister-in-law. She wants to be happy for Shining Armor, but when you find out your Big Brother Best Friend Forever is getting married via the Equestria equivalent of text message, it's easy to get pissed. Plus, something is waaay off about Cadence. She's the princess of love and joy, right? So why is she such a bummer? It's up to Twily to figure out what shenanigans are going on here...

S2E24: "MMMystery on the Friendship Express"

Doctor Pinkie Pie and Twilight "Watson" Sparkle are on the case this week...

A game is the foot this week as Pinkie Pie suspects foul play after Mr. and Mrs. Cake's majestic masterpiece cake is set about by some sweet tooth. While Pinkie thinks she knows exactly how to catch the cake thief, it turns out finding clues is a difficult task. Fortunately Twilight's on the case. Because if they don't figure out what happened, Mr. Cake might slip into a coma from all the stress-related faints he's suffered.

S2E23: "Ponyville Confidential"

Reporting for the school paper is one thing. Digging up dirt and gossip for the whole town of Ponyville? THAT's a problem.

The Crusaders are still looking for their purpose (and, incidentally, a cutie mark) in all the wrong places. This time, they get deep into the world of gossip journalism. Between their deadline, Diamond Tiara as their editor, and an unwavering commitment to ending their status as blank flanks, there's way too much pressure on these fillies. And when Rarity finds out her secrets have been published, get ready for fireworks.

S2E22: "Hurricane Fluttershy"

Fluttershy may be scared of most things, but she's awesome when it comes to training montages.

We all know Fluttershy is...well...pretty shy. But the constant mocking during flight school was too much to handle. Hence why Fluttershy, a straight up Pegasus with wings, almost never flies. Unfortunately, Rainbow Dash needs ALL hands on deck to make sure they get water from Ponyville to Cloudsdale. Especially with a bad case of pony flu going around. That means it's time for Angel and the other woodland creatures to bust out the weights and training equipment to get Fluttershy ready for action in maybe the BEST montage of the whole series. No joke.

S2E21: "Dragon Quest"

Spike is trying to find himself, but all we can see is his pony friends' ridiculous costume...

It's time for the Great Dragon Migration, but after his friends tease him about being the cutest dragon ever, Spike is feeling a bit insecure. Unfortunately, the only way for him to connect is to hang out with teenage dragons. Which, now that we think of it, isn't that different from regular teenagers. Still, the best thing about a kinda boring episode is the ridiculous three-pony dragon costume that Twilight, Rarity and Rainbow Dash use to "blend in."

S2E20: “It’s About Time”

The closest My Little Pony will ever come to re-creating The Terminator.

Time-travel fans, rejoice. If ever My Little Pony were to cross with Quantum Leap and The Terminator, this is it. Though Ponyville's idea of time travel is far more about identifying Twilight Sparkle's obsession with understanding what's going on around her. There's a lot of wackiness, but also a sinister anxiety that Twilight has to come to grips with in order not to go insane. And also, if your future self comes to warn you about something, maybe don't ask so many questions.

S2E19: “Putting Your Hoof Down”

Don’t tell anyone but we secretly LOVE mean Fluttershy.

Everypony loves Fluttershy, but they also know she can be a pushover. So it’s only natural that when Fluttershy realizes that she’s being taken advantage of, she goes a little  bit too far. Ok, ok a lot too far. Like making everyone in Ponyville intensely afraid of you too far. Also, if Angel wasn't THE ABSOLUTE WORST BUNNY EVER maybe this all could have been avoided. But Angel has to be Angel. So there.

S2E18: “A Friend in Deed”

Seriously, though, who would ever use the name Cranky Doodle Donkey?

We’re generally pretty tolerant of Pinki Pie antics. Her bouncing and clowning around is always good for a laugh. But even the most ardent Pinkie fans have to admit that she goes a bit too far in this episode. I mean, all this Donkey wants is to be left alone. He’s had a rough go of it so why mess with the guy? And even though Pinkie comes through in the end, we really recommend you set some personal boundaries when it comes to Pinkie Pie...

S2E17: “Hearts and Hooves Day”

If you mess with love potions you might get more than you bargain for...

We generally agree with the Cutie Mark Crusaders - everypony deserves their own special somepony, if they really want one.. However, we don't recommend using random love potions to force two ponies to fall in love with each other. I mean, it's kinda worth it to watch how ridiculously sappy Big Macintosh becomes. But when your potion turns out to be poison, it's probably time to reconsider what you're doing. Looking at you, Sweetie Belle.

S2E16: “Read It and Weep”

Reading doesn’t make you an egghead, Rainbow Dash. And if you want some books maybe don’t steal from the hospital...

Rainbow Dash is one of the best flyers in all of Equestria, but when she crashes, she crashes hard. So maybe it shouldn't come as a surprise that she hurt her wing badly enough to need a hospital stay. But Rainbow Dash isn't known for doing stuff by herself, and especially not nerdy stuff like reading books. There's only one hero who might be able to get her to read a book - Daring Do...

S2E15: “The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000”

Who cares about the episode when you have the most epic musical number of all ponyhood?

There’s a whole huge plot line of this episode of how the Apple family might lose their farm and how mad Rainbow Dash is that she can’t get any cider. But the only thing that really matters is the Music Man -esque epic that the Flim Flam Brothers bring to Ponyville. Only Peter Griffin in his Super Bowl rendition of “Shipoopi” has matched this level of musical artistry. So get ready to fall for the con while singing along.

S2E14: “The Last Roundup”

When everyone’s expectations are as crazy as your own, you might just have to pack your bags and move away...

Applejack is nothing if not a winner - just look at her trophy cases from the yearly rodeos. But nopony gets to win every year. So when Applejack goes completely AWOL from Sweet Apple Acres, the Mane Six have to go rescue her. But will Mayor Mane’s disturbingly huge expectations crush Applejack’s will? Will the Mane Six take their own spin on an I Love Lucy  classic? And what should Pinkie Pie call her new baking sensation: chimicherry  or cherrychanga?

S2E13: "Baby Cakes"

Replacing jokes this week with lots of "awww" noises for two adorable baby fillies..

In what might be the most adorable episode of this podcast yet, the Cakes of Sugarcube Corner have just had twin fillies and this episode is full of cuteness. There's lots of Pinkie Pie sight-gags, a little bit of shade from Twilight and the most honest Rarity moment we've seen. But mostly it's just super-cute pony babies being absolutely adorbs. Squee!

S2E12: “Family Appreciation Day”

Don’t try to tell Granny Smith how to pick Zap Apples. She might just make you wear a bunny costume.

It's Zap Apple season and the neon flowers are blooming. That can mean only one thing for Apple Bloom, though - a lot of weirdness and ridiculousness from Granny Smith. But as crazy as Granny seems, there's a tried-and-true method to her madness. As long as you're OK with a bee beard. Or being a general to some glass jars.

S2E11: "Hearth's Warming Eve"

It's a Christmas episode...in January...whatevs, it's still a great episode.

It's Hearth's Warming Eve, and this year the Mane Six get to tell the story of Equestria's founding and the common peace between Pegasi, Unicorns and Earth Ponies. Everyone's devoted to their roles, some a little more than others (looking at you, Spike). We won't lie though - the coming together of friends like Clover the Clever, Smart Cookie and Private Pansy got us in all the feels. It's a good episode, and a nice message for the tail end of winter...
